Oatmeal Cranberry Orange White Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ok so these cookies are phenomenal. I wasn't sick of chocolate chip cookies, just had an idea for something extra fancy. I do not like oatmeal but I do love oatmeal cookies!

Oatmeal Orange Cranberry White Chocolate Chip Cookies

These are super easy to make and incredibly delicious and unique.

What you'll need:

1 1/4 sticks of butter, softened
1/2 cup muscovado sugar (or 1/4 cup white and 1/4 cup brown sugar)
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla (Mexican or Madagascar)

3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 teaspoon Ceylon Cinnamon or 1/2 teaspoon regular cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1.5 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 cup dried orange cranberries

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees

Mix these dry ingredients in one bowl: Flour, Baking Powder, Salt, Cinnamon, Nutmeg

In a separate bowl, mix the butter and sugar really well. Then add the egg and vanilla.

Mix the wet and dry ingredients together well.

Fold in oats, chocolate chips, and dried orange cranberries until they seem uniformly mixed.

Drop by ice cream scoop onto a cookie sheet lined with a silicone sheet, parchment paper, or aluminum foil.

Bake for 8 or 9 minutes.

Make 15 decent sized cookies.

If you are using a mini scoop, bake for 7 minutes ish...you want these to be chewy and soft.

Other variations you can try are:

- 1/2 cup Chopped Dates and 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
- 1/2 cup Dried cherries and 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1/2 cup Dried Blueberries with 1/4 cup lemon zest
- 1/2 cup Dried Raspberries with 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup Dried Strawberry Slices with 1/2 cup Milk Chocolate Chips
- 1/2 cup Dried Pineapple and 1/2 cup Coconut flakes

General rule, 1/2 cup dried fruit and 1/2 cup some kind of chip or nut.

But these are also good:

- 1/2 cup White Chocolate Chips and 1 teaspoon Matcha Green Tea
- 1/2 cup Milk Chocolate Chips and 1/2 cup Chopped Cashews

1. You can get orange cranberries probably at your local grocery store. If you can't find them, you can get these from Trader Joe's on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3ll8EXK

2. The white chocolate chips I got 365 brand from Whole Foods, mini white chocolate chips. It doesn't matter really which kind you get, just make sure they are real chocolate. Real chocolate chips are made with Cocoa Butter and Milk Powder. Cocoa butter is great for the skin....hey an excuse to eat cookies I'm in. ;) If you get white baking "morsels" or "chips" make sure to read the package ingredients first. Often they are made with flavoring and palm oil (ew) and no actual cocoa butter.

Some of my favorite brands of real white chocolate are:

Callebut White Chocolate Chunks by Olive Nation: https://amzn.to/2UIk7Ij

Whole Foods 365 brand mini white chocolate chunks: https://amzn.to/2Gp3Fm3

Chatfield's : https://amzn.to/2DhxAfu

****** Do not order them in summer months in warm climates as you will receive a bag of melted chocolate ******

3. The sugar I use is India Tree unprocessed muscovado sugar. I don't spoil myself much so I get fancy sugar and chocolate as a treat :) It's here: https://amzn.to/2DgWonW

4. Ceylon Cinnamon is milder than the regular cinnamon and I think has a much deeper flavor. I love Healthworks Brand: https://amzn.to/2DiInGa

5. Madagascar Vanilla's prices went through the roof over the past 10 years, but Mexican Vanilla is pretty awesome in baking. It's sweeter and milder than Madagascar. I like both. Here's the Mexican one I got: https://amzn.to/2XpO2C3

Happy baking!

Love,

Doe

  1. They're fantastic! All my friends loved it. One of them even grabbed a second cookie after having just one bite.
