Speaking your painful truth
When you let your sad or angry feelings be known, you've spoken your truth.
That's all that is in your control.
The reaction or response from the person you told is theirs alone. They may understand. They may be hurt. They may be disappointed. They may judge you. They may decide they don't like you anymore.
It may really hurt to tell your painful truth, but keeping it bottled inside will always hurt more in the long run.
If you truly value receiving honesty, you have to find the courage to give it, too.
