It's important to re-evaluate. Circumstances, relationships, and even yourself. We're so flooded with information on a daily basis that a lot of things can go on autopilot. It's necessary so the mind doesn't get overwhelmed and happens mostly with things that are learned and known…like brushing your teeth or tying your shoes. You've known how for so long that you don't even have to pay attention anymore. But over time, circumstances can change so subtly that you have adapted little by little and arrived at places that you may not really want to be. Re-evaluating can make you aware of things that you didn't realize happened. From there you can change the direction if needed from a place you don't want to be in to one you'd like to go to.
A lot of employers have regular employee evaluations. It helps not only to see what needs improvement but also what needs appreciation. After evaluations, some employees get warned or fired but others get raises or promotions. Re-evaluating shouldn't be faced with anxiety because of possible changes...just keep in mind that if there are changes needed, they will always be for the better.
