Forgiveness doesn’t mean everything will be as it was before. You can’t pretend things didn’t happen as they did. Forgiveness means that you’re choosing to stop being mad, sad, or upset about the last time, trading pain for wisdom. Always make sure you emerged wiser, not bitter. You don’t have to hurt anyone else to protect yourself. You can trust again fully, but make sure to be aware of your feelings and of red flags. Ignoring those means forgetting the wisdom gained. Forgetting the wisdom gained can lead straight to a next time. Then you would have to forgive all over again.
